I am so happy to see you here in 2023.
Today feels doubly auspicious because I send my weekly email on Monday and this month coincides with the monthly update! How lucky are we?! So get comfy, grab a cozy bevvy (I recently tried a drink called the Mint Eastwood from a new coffee shop that is basically a peppermint mocha which I’m sipping as I write this. I’m sending these vibes your way), and get ready for the January Update! This post is a little longer than usual because…well…despite my inner critic telling me “I’m not doing enough! I’m failing! I’m failing myself and my family and my people!” I’ve actually been kinda busy? Sigh…I’m working on it too!
I’m excited to share with you some of the exciting things that happened in my neck of the woods (I’m channeling my Al Roker here) and the AMAZING things I cannot believe are coming up in January. One of which is courtesy of some major manifesting and a wonderful friend (and Rieki Master Megan Sikora) mentioning my name in a room of people. I’m also excited to hear your thoughts on an article my dear friend sent me that got me and the members of Mom’s Club talking!
I now invite you to join me as I take a deeeeeep breath in and even deeper exhales because…we made it. And however the holidays went down for you, you’re here and that’s worth celebrating! The past three years have been heavy and I’m ready for something a little…lighter so in today’s podcast episode (another mini episode!) I talk about the energy I am bringing with me into 2023.
Listen to episode 36: Bringing More Of ME Into 2023 here!
I also want to thank you again for being here and reading this email! I love sharing resources, inspiration, and events and it helps me to tangibly see what I’ve done and what I’m doing. I tend to think I’m never doing enough (you know the narrative) and this reminds me that I’m doing enough. I’m good enough. I’m smart enough. And dog gonnit, people like me.
If you’re new around here, you may not know that you have an option to alter your (in)box every week by subscribing. All you gotta do is click this button and enter your email! Easy peazy. Or comment below with “I want to Alter my (in)box!” and I’ll add you!
Check out the links/resources below all curated because I like them, found value in them, and I think you will too! Let me know if you agree! And if you don’t, let’s start a conversation about it. I do ask that if you haven’t anything nice to say…say it to me anyway! I love trash talk!
I invite you to share with a friend. It helps support my mission of women and allies speaking unapologetically about the truths of the female experience.
Ok, let’s go! We have a lot to cover!
As always, I’ve got your back. I’ve got your front. And I’ve got your undercarriage.
xo, Alissa
A beloved friend sent me this article in The Wall Street Journal, maybe you’ve seen it, The research Is In, Facebook Mom Groups Really Do Stress Women Out.
Of course I had to share it with my Facebook Group Mom’s Club and ask members how our group feels. Because I hear all the time from members that this group is different from all of the other Facebook Groups we all belong to. The words people used to describe Mom’s Club were:
Honest
Camaraderie
Community
Support
Non-Judgmental
And more!
I’m not kidding when I say I do not believe ini TMI and I am a 100% judgment free zone. And we know the internet cannot say the same. The reason I started Mom’s Club, my podcast, pstprtm, everything I do is because when I got divorced and then when I became a mother I couldn’t find resources that used real words to talk about the real deal experiences I was having. I didn’t want toxic positivity, and I didn’t need to feel worse than I already felt. I needed space and resources and community where I could show up truthfully. And it seems like it’s happening!
If you’re a mom who is looking for a community of like minded, badass, non judgmental humans, check out Mom’s Club.
December Update!
🏡 WE MOVED! I never thought I’d leave NYC or Brooklyn and here we are back in the motherland, NEW JERSEY! And I was waiting to panic that we made a huge mistake and guess what? I LOVE IT! I love the space, I love having a king sized bed, I love that we can all be home and there are places I can go where I don’t hear anything and I am working on loving all of the stairs!
👯I’d guess that once every six months or so someone sends me this video and asks “Is this you? HOw did I NOT know you did this? I love this!” And it brings me so much joy and nostalgia! Yep! That’s me dancing with Jonathan Groff!
💃I’ve been back in dance class and I never thought my 38 year old not pregnant would do floorwork again, but here I am PREGNANT doing FLOOR WORK!
