O.M.G friend! A new article from yours truly is now LIVE on Babe! An incredible resource for those on a path to and through parenthood brought to you by Hatch.
I’ve been a fan of Hatch and Babe since…I heard about them when I was pregnant with E. It only took me until about a month ago to reach out and pitch an article to them. I was thrilled (and did a happy dance) when the incredibly welcoming, brilliant, and generous editor Caroline Tell excitedly replied hell yea!
This article is about how mad it makes me when I hear from women “I didn’t even know I had a pelvic floor until after I gave birth.” It’s unfair, it’s unjust, it has to change. So in this article I break down what to know, focus on, and how to harness the physical & energetic powerhouse between your legs through every stage of motherhood; from trying to conceive through postpartum.
It’s funny because recently I’ve started pitching myself to things more often. I’ve felt a shift where I’m letting go of the part of me filled with imposter syndrome and connecting more with the part of me that owns all of my talents. And also owns the things that aren’t my talents (these things are other people’s talents). I feel less desire to hustle and “do it all” and more energized by doing what I do and collaborating with others who do other things really well. Especially when there’s overlap and also when there isn’t!
When I was in theater full time there was so much scarcity energy that you wouldn’t even tell your friends what song you were singing for an audition. Because god forbid they sang the same song, they may get the job over you. Even though we would each sing it our own way, this felt threatening. And there’d be a pit in your stomach if someone was wearing the same outfit. There are only so many tops available at lululemon! WTF are we supposed to do?!
Anyway, I realize I’ve been carrying some of that with me and I’m ready to let it go. it served me (I guess) when it served me and it doesn’t anymore. What serves me now is openness, generosity, and collective collaboration.
And I LOVED collaborating with Babe and am excited to share some other upcoming collaborations in the new year. And if YOU want to collaborate, or know someone who you think would be a good match for me to collaborate with, let’s create some magic!
The people need to know! We are stronger together! And there is more than enough to go around! As always, I’ve got your back. I’ve got your front. And I’ve got your undercarriage.
xo, Alissa
