Are you reading The Woman In Me? Britney Spears’ book? BECAUSE I AM!
And I’m honestly blown away.
She is speaking openly, honestly, and with such clarity as she reflects back on everything that was done to her that I would give almost anything to get to see her therapist. Whoever was and is able to support this powerhouse of a woman through this and guide her to such a place of understanding needs whatever award they give people who do work like this.
Because good god did we fail Britney Spears.
I’ve thought of her over the past four years after becoming a mother myself and coming face to face with perinatal mood disorders. It is so clear that Britney was suffering after the birth of her children and no one around her would help her. They could have, but they didn’t.
Everyone was so focused on capitalizing off of what she has to offer, that they essentially let her bleed out. She was their resource and they took and took and took and no one really considered giving her anything. They just kept taking.
And from there it snowballed. Seriously go read or listen to the book!
I’m listening to the book (shout out to Michelle Williams who needs her own award for this performance) and I relate so hard.
Maybe it’s because I’m empathetic.
Maybe it’s because when I sing and dance in my bedroom I too am a world famous popstar.
Maybe it’s because I’m a woman.
Maybe it’s because I’m a mom.
Everyone always needs something from me. Always.
This fact hasn’t changed, I’ve changed. Just like Britney.
There are always demands on my time, my energy, my sweet sweet dance moves AND I decide when they are available to others and when they are not. Just like I decide which snacks are available when. I am the snacks.
I will not fail myself the way we failed Britney!
And if you’re finding it HARD to draw the line like Britney and I have done, I get it! There’s nothing wrong with you, it feels HARD because IT’S HARD!
But guess what! Are you ready? It can be easy.

I’m going to show you how. I can’t right now because I’m still working out the details, but if you’re interested in picking up what I’m laying down, FILL OUT THE GOOGLE FORM!
Until next time, read Brit’s book, get a snack (become one with the snacks), and remember. I’ve got your back. I’ve got your front. And I’ve got your undercarriage.
