Hello hello! This monthly update is coming atcha a little late because…February was exhausting! Haha. Not because anything bad or so dramatic happened, but because I kept my usual pace and got more pregnant every single day.
I had the honor, privilege, and JOY of performing my new one woman show We Party #thisismotherhood and it was a reality check I needed that I am, in fact, over six months pregnant. And this body is busy!
Each day we have a certain amount of energy available to us, right? Depending on how we slept, what we’ve eaten, our hydration, the current demands in our lives, stress, etc. We move through the day deciding how much of that energy goes where, right?
Right now, for me in this body, it feels like 50%+ of what I wake up with is already accounted for. So even when I wake up energized I have to be more than judicious about where I’m spending my energy because it’s not all mine. More than half is going to this new baby who does give a flying you know what how many dance moves I planned to do today, or episodes to record, or posts to write, or anything else.
I’m not going to fight this because there’s nothing wrong with this. This is what happens. This is part of the process of pregnancy and preparing for a new baby. So I am – are you ready for this? – altering my expectations, my schedule, my pace to honor this body, this baby, this version of me at this moment.
How am I doing that? I’m glad you asked. I mentioned this in a previous post, but I”m going back and updating my Owner’s Manual. These prompts and exercises are so freaking helpful to me to know what I’m up to, what I need, and why I’m feeling certain feels. This knowledge and clarity helps ME feel more centered in the experience (which is so freaking hormotional) and also articulate to Jeremy wtf is going on. Because without the words it really just seems like I turn into a dragon and I’m here to eat him alive. Which isn’t the case! I usually just need to be horizontal for a little bit! With a snack! Click here if you want to learn more about the Owner’s Manual and if you want to make your own, use code AYL63 to save over 30%
So…let’s get going with everything that happened in February and what’s coming up in March and I think you’ll see the change in face ← this is also foreshadowing to an upcoming episode of the podcast I’m really excited about!
Anyway, thank you for being here, thank you for sharing your time with me, and thank you for being you.
Xo, Alissa
WHAT HAPPENED IN FEBRUARY…
OMG! This show! THANK YOU to everyone who tuned in for the live performance and for everyone who has watched the clips on Instagram! I have an unedited recording available and will be working on getting something more beautiful put together, but why wait?!
If you like what you see, please comment and share! I have some exciting ideas for this show and your responses and spreading the word are INVALUABLE!
RETURN OF MYTH OF MOTHERHOOD THE PODCAST!
We’re back! And if you’ve been reading this blog and following on IG you know I love a pivot step and that’s exactly what I did. I missed this show, these conversations, this space so I rocked my favorite dance step and here we are! MYTH OF MOTHERHOOD the podcast is back! Subscribe on your favorite podcasting platform and if video is more your jam, subscribe on YouTube!
ON THE BLOG
We talked about a LOT of things on the blog this month! I mean…that’s what we do here. We started with Horizontal Abs & How You Feel In Your Body this centering experience led right into the conversation about my recent pivot steps and the return of Myth of Motherhood the podcast! And everytime I pivot, I make sure to check in with my internal GPS (my vagina, duh) and I share resources to help you do the same thing! Although, I’ll be honest, the best way to develop fluency and understanding with YOUR internal GPS (of Vaginal GPS if you will) is with Pilates For Your Privates. Your vagina is made up of muscle which you can train just like your voice. And fun fact: your vocal cords look a lot like the external female anatomy. I have a whole podcast episode about it because the world needs YOUR voice especially when you feel like it’s not strong enough. Which brought us to close out the month with an important conversation around Menopause. Whatever age, stage, place you’re in right now, we are heading toward it so it’s time we start talking about it.
If you’re not already subscribed to the bog, now is the perfect time!
GUEST APPEARANCES
Workshop at Kula Yoga & Fitness
I obviously forgot to take a group pic, but that’s because we had so much fun! I had a blast working with this group of women who so openly and generously shared their experiences and questions about their pelvic health, anatomy, and how often they were peeing their pants. Why do so many of us accept incontinence as a way of life! You don’t have to live like this!
If you want to participate in a workshop like this, make sure you’re subscribed so you’re the first to know when another one is coming up.
Do you have a studio and want to bring this information to your people? Reach out and let’s make some magic happen!

COMING UP IN MARCH…
I am very excited to hit the stage again this month as a guest performer in my dear friend’s show The STory Goes On Part II at Don’t Tell Mama in NYC. Saturday, March 25th!
I can feel how this pregnant body is beginning to slow down so this month is a lot of surrendering, nesting, and getting my ducks in as much of a row as they’ll agree to.
You can expect some really exciting conversations on the podcast and some new ideas on the blog. I also realize I haven’t talked a lot about our new house so as I shift into nesting mode expect more nesting and baby #2 content which I kicked off in this week’s podcast episode Walking Back Into The Fire: How I decided To Get Pregnant Again.
I will also be sharing some of my favorite moments from We Party #thisismotherhood so follow me on IG, I highly recommend it because…well…I’ll be honest. It’s really funny.
And it’s more than time to have some fun!
As always, I’ve got your back. I’ve got your front. And I’ve got your undercarriage.
