3 things I did to set myself up for success while Jeremy traveled for work
+ two of my new fave recipes
The majority of this week Jeremy has been traveling for work. Something that doesn’t happen so often these days. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little bit jealous because I am. He’s in Ireland! He needed his passport! He’s using different currencies! He’s sleeping in a hotel BY HIMSELF! All things I LOVE!
And I’m here in the dirty Jerz solo parenting a 3 year old while 21 weeks pregnant.
It’s fine! I’m fine! We are ALL fine!!!
But actually, I am fine. I’m thankful this trip happened over the weekdays because we have childcare so I have space to breathe, nap when I need to, and get stuff done. And it’s still exhausting. Everett is doing a great job adjusting to his big kid bed, but still wakes up once or twice a night and asks why we aren’t sitting on the stairs anymore. Something we do while he falls asleep.
Anyway, I made this reel on IG and it inspired today’s post about how I set myself for potential success while solo parenting while 21 weeks pregnant. If you don’t already know this about me, I’m a planner. So here are the 3 things I did to prepare for potential success while Jeremy was traveling.
I say potential success because I have a 3 year old, there is NO GUARANTEE! There’s no amount of prep that will GUARANTEE anything when a 3 year old psychopath lives with you. BUT that doesn’t mean you can’t give yourself a hand and make things a little easier so you’re also slightly less unprepared when things go coo coo bananas.
And this may seem like a stretch, but it’s really not, doing this prep work and following these intentions I set for myself also required me to create and hold certain boundaries like I talk about on this week’s podcast episode. Boundaries are so much more than rules we make about relationships with other people. Most often WE are the one violating our own boundaries most often. I find if I’m crystal effing clear about why I have a boundary around something it’s a lot easier to stay consistent.
OK, So here are the three things I focused on to prepare for solo parenting while pregnant…
